Burch and Purchese

Burch and Purchese!

On Saturday my family and I went on a trip to Melbourne to celebrate my mum’s birthday. On our trip we stopped at Burch and Purchese . The food in this shop looked amazing! The display cabinet was full of treats and sweets and I wished we could of tried all of them but we could only choose a few.

We were also lucky enough to meet Darren Purchese. He was sitting in the kitchen writing his new book. He came out and talked to us and told us about his new cookbook, the food and his blog. He was saying in his next blog he is going to write about some bees that have some hives in the roof of the patisserie and they use the honeycomb from the hives in some of their cooking. He also suggested to us some of his bestselling treats.

We tried the  Coconut, passion fruit, ginger and mint tart and it was delicous. All the flavours were great together and the layers were delicious and all different. The layers were:  coconut mousse, passionfruit curd, coconut caviar, passionfruit jelly, salted oat & ginger crumble with white chocolate mint wafer and a ginger macaroon. We also tried the popular Chocolate, Mandarine ans salted caramel. It had a really nice mousse, delicous ganache on top and in the middle was salted caramel.

Darren said that this dessert was going into his cook book. Our third dessert we tired was wild strawberry, peach and white chocolate. This again was delicous and had in it: Wildstrawberry vanilla & white chocolate mousse with  white peach cream,  white peach & red peach jelly and a strawberries & cream crumble. My fussy little sister not daring to try something new tried the mint and white chocolate bar which every one in the family realy liked. My favourite dessert was the  Coconut, passion fruit, ginger and mint tart. His new cook book I am definitely going to purchase when it comes out and I will be trying lots of his desserts.
